Officially opened in 1942, the Marijampolė Drama Theatre (which went by a few different names back then) has lived through occupations, regime changes, and heavy censorship. It finally reopened under its current name in 1992, after Lithuania regained its independence. But as with everything, after more than 20 years, it was time for another change. MDT is shedding the 'small-town theater' label to establish itself as a place of cultural influence. We wanted the new logo to respect the theatre's history, while giving it an ambitious flair for the future.
